Non-Geographic Telephone Numbers
Non geographic telephone numbers are numbers which do not have an area code that indicates
their geographic location. Businesses typically use non geographic numbers because they
give a UK presence not just a local presence and can give customers discounted calls such
as local rate calls using 0845 numbers for national customers or even free calls using
0800 numbers.
Because non geographic numbers are not physical lines in order for calls to be received
they must be forwarded to a physical geographic landline so for example;
0870 114 1000 is a non geographic number
01256 123456 is a geographic number/physical line
We could forward all calls to 0870 114 1000 onto the landline 01256 123456 seamlessly. All
outgoing calls would be made using the existing landline and would be charged by your
existing telephone provider at your normal rates. Any calls to your existing landline
would still be received as normal so effectively all that happens is you get two inbound
phone numbers on one phone line.
Fax2Mail provide 4 non geographic number ranges which are 0871, 0870, 0845, 0800 and can
either provide just a phone number or matching phone and fax numbers.
Matching telephone Numbers
Fax2Mail automatically reserves the matching phone number for every fax number. This is achieved because all of our fax numbers end in an odd digit and all numbers ending in an even digit are reserved as phone numbers.
See the table of numbers for example;
